Pablo Matisse album packaging design
Art direction and packaging design for the Pablo Matisse album “Rise” released on Startracks 2018. With members from classic outfits such as Union Carbide Productions/The Soundtrack Of Our Lives and noisy indie rockers Division Of Laura Lee, Pablo Matisse is a punk band with more than one string to their bow.
After 10 minutes of coffee with singer Per, talking about our favourite old punk and hardcore records, I knew we wanted to go for a packaging design in the vein of mid 80’s punk and indie albums (think The Smiths, Hüsker Dü & SST Records etc.) – an “inexpensive” looking design, low on impact and contrast, working with grayscale and only one or two colours.
